Practice Nurse

If you have a long-term medical condition, you will be contacted by the Practice for a review.

If you think you have been missed from the recall programme, please let us know as soon as possible.

Other services provided

The following services are also provided at the Practice:

  • GP appointments
  • Appointments with First Contact Physiotherapist
  • Appointments with the Primary Care Pharmacist
  • Minor surgery
  • Contraceptive services including contraceptive implants
  • Joint injections
  • Cervical Screening
  • Sexual Health

Non-NHS Services

Some services are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges.

Examples include:

  • Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV)
  • Insurance claim forms
  • Prescriptions for taking medication abroad • Private sick notes
  • Vaccination certificates.

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.  View our GP Fees for Non-NHS Services infosheet.

Services provided out with the Practice

A&E

In the event of a medical emergency please call 999.

Accident and emergency services are available at Uist and Barra Hospital, Balivanich, HS7 5LA.

Baby and Child Health

If you have any queries regarding your child’s health please contact the Health Visiting team, based at the Balivanich Community Clinic, on (01870) 602687.

An appointment can be made to see you at the clinic, surgery or at home, whichever is more appropriate. Regular development checks are advised.

Ante-natal Care

The care of pregnant women is shared between the doctors and midwives.

CTAC Clinics

The Community Treatment and Care Clinic (CTAC) is held at Uist & Barra Hospital and helps the staff at the surgery assess your health.

Services delivered include but are not limited to:

  • phlebotomy
  • basic disease data collection and biometrics (such as blood pressure)
  • chronic disease monitoring
  • management of minor injuries and dressings
  • suture removal
  • ear syringing and,
  • some types of minor surgery as locally determined as being appropriate.
